As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen emergency medical services across Albania, the SOLIDAR “Together in Health Emergencies” Project conducted a series of field visits with support from the Health Care Service Operator on 2 June 2026 to Gramsh Municipality Hospital, Peqin Municipality Hospital, and the 24/7 Health Centers of Cërrik and Belsh. SOLIDAR – Together in Health Emergencies is a project by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and implemented by GFA Consulting Group GmbH.

The visits provided an opportunity for direct engagement with healthcare professionals and facility managers to review progress achieved through previous SOLIDAR-supported interventions and discuss current priorities in emergency care delivery. Particular attention was given to the practical application of knowledge and skills acquired through advanced emergency medicine training, as well as to the continued use of digital tools introduced to improve emergency medical data reporting.

Following Up on Training and Digital Tools 

During the meetings, healthcare staff exchanged experiences from daily practice, shared challenges encountered in managing emergency cases, and discussed opportunities for further strengthening emergency preparedness and response capacities at the local level. Project representatives also presented and distributed practical reference materials designed to support healthcare professionals in the management of cardiac and trauma emergencies and facilitate the application of internationally recognized emergency care algorithms. Healthcare professionals who respond to emergencies every day have first-hand knowledge of where the system works well and where it faces the greatest challenges. Engaging directly with them ensures that their experience and practical insights help inform decisions on how emergency services are planned, strengthened, and supported.

At the 24/7 Health Centers of Cërrik and Belsh, the SOLIDAR team also followed up on the implementation of digital emergency reporting systems, including the use of tablet computers provided through the project to facilitate timely and accurate documentation of emergency medical activities. The focus was not simply on whether the equipment was available, but on whether healthcare staff could use it confidently, quickly, and reliably in real working conditions. In healthcare, the value of a digital tool is realised only when it becomes part of everyday practice and supports professionals when it matters most.

These visits form part of SOLIDAR’s continuous monitoring and support approach, ensuring that investments in training, equipment, and digital innovation translate into sustainable improvements in the quality of emergency care services provided to communities throughout Albania.
