Advancing Emergency Medical Education: Working Group Meeting on the Action Plan for Continuing Medical Education
On 25th February, 2025, the Working Group for the development of the Action Plan for Continuing Medical Education in Medical Emergencies for doctors and nurses in Primary Healthcare came together in the Hotel Tirana International to review and discuss the drafted Action Plan.
The Working Group, which includes representatives from the key healthcare institutions in the country such as the National Emergency Medical Center, the Agency for Quality Assurance on Health and Social Care, the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund, the Public Health Institute, the Healthcare Services Operator, and the Professional Orders of Doctors and Nurses, has been established by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection with the aim of further enhancing the knowledge and professional skills of doctors and nurses in Primary Healthcare services.
This meeting follows preparatory work carried out by the SOLIDAR project and its implementing partner, Terre des hommes, aimed at identifying the needs for strengthening and further developing continuing education for doctors and nurses in primary healthcare, as well as consulting with relevant interest groups.
During the meeting, the draft of the Action Plan for Continuing Medical Education on Emergencies in Primary Healthcare was presented, outlining strategic measures aimed at improving the knowledge, skills, and competencies of healthcare professionals in managing medical emergencies.
The main goal of the CME Action Plan is to create an integrated system that enhances the capacities of healthcare professionals at the primary healthcare level.
To ensure the effective implementation of the Action Plan for Continuing Medical Education on Emergency Care in Primary Healthcare, the Working Group will continue its efforts to improve and finalize the draft in collaboration with all key stakeholders. The aim is to contribute to strengthening professional capacities and improving the quality of emergency medical services for the citizens of the Republic of Albania.
